Tony LEUNG wins first Golden Rooster award

6 Nov - Tony Leung Chiu Wai has been named Best Actor at the Golden Rooster Awards, enabling him to achieve the movie Grand Slam - as the actor to have won Best Actor at the Hong Kong Film Awards, the Golden Horse Awards and the Golden Rooster Awards.
As reported on Mingpao, the Hong Kong star bested other contenders including "Papa" star Huang Bo and "Journey to the West" actor Haoyu Yang to win the accolade at the event held in Xiamen on 4 November.
In his speech, Tony, who won for his performance in "Hidden Blade", dedicated his win to the cast and crew.
Speaking to the media after his victory, Tony stated that he enjoys being an actor and that the job has enriched his life.
"An ordinary person doesn't have the chance to experience so many kinds of lives. I also learned a lot of new things with every character that I play," he added.
It is noted that Tony has won multiple Best Actor awards in Hong Kong and Taiwan for movies like "Chungking Express", "Happy Together", "Lust, Caution" and "In the Mood for Love". However, this is the first nomination and win for him at the Golden Rooster Awards.
